Start debugging BBB over Serial Port

Prerequisite: 

1. USB to Serial (RS 232) adapter.

2. Beagle Bone.

3. Putty.

Steps:

Connect USB to Serial  adaptor and install software if required.

 

You can use any USB to serial(TTL/RS232) adapter. Basically you need RX, TX and signal ground.

Download and install Putty from http://www.putty.org/ .

Run Putty client and create following configuration.

 

 

Caution: Check device manager for USB to serial adapter used COM port for Serial line.

now connect cable RX, TX and ground to beagle bone.

Marked pin is Pin 1. 

Pin	Serial cable wire
1	Black
4	Orange
5	Yellow

Start putty and load serial port device.

power on BBB.

login as root.
